Sydney Mardi Gras!!!

In years past, it took a passport, a 20-hour flight and a big chunk of change to enjoy Sydney Mardi Gras. Now all you need is a decent Internet connection. MardiGrasTV.org.au, which went live yesterday, offers hours of content from this year’s celebration, including the legendary Sydney Mardi Gras Parade on March 4.

Produced by Australian mobile-phone company Optus, the site is offering footage from Fair Day and Harbour Party, as well as behind-the-scenes shots and a one-hour video of parade highlights, which can be seen from 7.30pm on Sunday.

That’s 3:30am EST on Sunday morning, so you better get your beauty sleep!!!

Good Morning Everyone!!

Good morning everyone, I hope that you are having a wonderful week so far!!   Happy Leap Day to ya!  Our week is going pretty well here so far.  My dad is having more procedures done this morning to determine the extent and we should know what the options are going to be after today, which will definitely be a relief.  Have a  lot of chores and errands that I have been putting off that I hope to get accomplished today as well.

Anywho, have a great day and we will talk to ya laters.

Good Night -- Sweet Dreams

Our Boys In Uniform!!

Foursquaring Your Safe Sex Trick!!

Planned parenthood is going all social media up in here and I am sure the GOP when they find out will be all sorts of upset!!   Via Geekwire:

Here’s a social media experiment that we didn’t see coming. Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest has begun distributing 55,000 condoms to college students with QR codes, allowing students to anonymously “check in” and boast about where they’ve practiced safe sex. A Web site dubbed WhereDidYouWearIt.com chronicles all of the action, so you can see that folks are particularly frisky in Ballard or Bellevue or Bellingham.

“Did you just use a condom to protect yourself against unintended pregnancy, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections? You go, tiger! Sex that (is) safe, should be shared,” declares the Web site.

The interactive map also includes comments from users. For example:

A 20 something guy and a girl whose relationship is just for fun and have already talked about safer sex and STDs used a condom in the bedroom to prevent an unplanned pregnancy. It was ah-maz-ing – rainbows exploded and mountains trembled.

And:

A 30 something guy and a guy whose relationship is non-existent and have not yet talked about safer sex and STDs used a condom at a party because their partner told them to. It was fair- a work in progress.
What’s the point of this unusual social media effort?

“We hope the site promotes discussions within relationships about condoms and helps to remove perceived stigmas that some people may have about condom use. Where Did You Wear It attempts to create some fun around making responsible decisions,” said Nathan Engebretson, new media coordinator at Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest.

The effort was introduced as part of National Condom Week, with check-ins now recorded in 48 of 50 states and on six continents.

OK, we want to know: Which states are the hold outs?

UPDATE: We’re told that all 50 states are now represented (the holdouts were Maine and Vermont). There have been 955 check-ins worldwide, and the map has now received 9739 visits.

This is highlarious!!  But I love the fact that it is promoting safe sex.   What do you think?   Is this going to be the virtual black book?

Creator Of 'True Blood' Alan Ball Is Leaving

OMG!  I hope that it doesn't affect the show to much.

Blastr is reporting;

Rumors of Ball's departure from the series began circulating early Friday, and then were confirmed Friday afternoon by Forbes' Roger Friedman. Friedman cites "exhaustion" as the chief explanation for Ball's departure from the show, which he developed from Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels. But even though he's no longer planning to lead the series, Ball seems to be willing to at least hang around in some capacity.

"Ball will still be with the show, I'm told, but a new regime will guide the fates of the characters into their new season," Friedman said. "This could also very well be a money issue, as series tend to get more and more expensive as they drag on."

That seems to indicate that season four was Ball's last season as the guiding force of the show, but we don't yet know who will be stepping in to fill that void. Ball's co-executive producer Gregg Fienberg, who's been with the show since season two, is probably a good guess, but HBO hasn't said anything about any of these developments yet, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Than again, maybe the new guy will allow more full frontal male nudity!!!   Pleeeeze!!!

Bully Gets An R-Rating!!!

Last week, I posted a trailer for a very important documentary being released which at the time was named "The Bully Project". The name is now just "Bully" I feel that the trailer deserves to be reposted.

When I posted the trailer, I explained how important I felt that this film was, since I was a survivor of bullying during my school years. I feel that every young teenager should see this movie and hopefully learn what damage is caused from words. I was so encouraged to read that schools across America were already planning on busing tens of thousands of students to see this film. The I was suddenly heartbroken to hear that the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) had given the documentary an R Rating making young teenagers unable to see the movie without a parent or guardian. The MPAA stated that the rating was implemented due to harsh language.

I believe that Linda Holmes, a writer for the NPR, said it best;
"There's a grotesque irony in declaring that what is portrayed in Bully should be softened, or bleeped -- should be hidden, really, because it's too much for kids to see. Of course it's too much for kids to see. It's also to much for kids to live through, walk through, ride the bus with, and go to school with. That's why they made the movie. The entire point of this film is that kids do not live with the protection we often believe they do -- many of them live in a terrifying, isolating war zone, and if you hide what it's like, if you lie about what they're experiencing, you destroy what is there to be learned."
The Weinstein Company, the production company for the documentary appealed the rating and has so far had no success in getting the rating changed to a softer PG-13. The MPAA had a polite statement in regard to their decision;
"Bullying is a serious issue and is a subject that parents should discuss with their children. The MPAA agrees with the Weinstein Company that Bully can serve as a vehicle for such important discussions.
The MPAA also has the responsibility, however, to acknowledge and represent the strong feedback from parents throughout the country who wants to be informed about content in movies, including language.
The rating and rating descriptor of 'some language,' indicate to parents that this movie contains certain language. With that, some parents may choose to take their kids to this movie and others may not, but it is their choice and not ours to make for them. The R rating is not a judgment on the value of any movie. The rating simply conveys to parents that a film has elements strong enough to require careful consideration before allowing their children to view it. Once advised, many parents may take their kids to see an R-rated film. School districts similarly, handle the determination of showing movies on a case-by-case basis and have their own guidelines for parental approval."
Harvey Winstein, CEP of The Weinstein Company said;
"I cried at the end of the film, and I said this is a mission for me, and especially for somebody who's known 10 years ago to have a bad temper. It's almost an act of redemption to do this movie on a personal basis. But more importantly, as a father of four girls, you know, as a father, period, I wanted to do this film. The moronic decision ... to not allow young people to watch this movie -- they want parents to take their kids. When I was 13 years old, the idea of me going with my mother and father to see any movie sounded like medicine ... I want every 13 & 14 year old to be able to go to this movie by themselves, watch the effects of thtese kids who bully other kids and make their own minds up that that's just uncool ... This is important to me because I've heard too many stories about cyber-bullies from my daughters."
I agree with the filmmaker, Lee Hirsh in that we have an obligation to America's youth to see this film. He has started a Bully's Facebook Page as well as an online petition asking the MPAA to reverse their rating decision.  I beg each and every one of you to please "Like" and sign the petition!!   Tell your friends, post it on your Facebook, we must get the word out regarding this issue.

This is not a film that can just be ignored because the "F" word is used. We as a society have to look at this movie and decide what is worse for our children; them hearing a couple of curse words or turning a blind eye as the bullying of our youth continues and their decision to no longer deal with the issue continues as well.

Supreme Court Refuses To Hear NOM Repeal

At least now we will hopefully finally find out how much of the catholic church's money went to fund the fight against marriage equality in Maine.  Can't wait to see the NOM spin doctors on this one!

The SCOTUS blog said this in regard to the ruling;

Besides turning down both of those petitions, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a constitutional challenge to a Maine law that requires those seeking to raise and spend money in state election campaigns to organize as a political action committee for that activity, and make significant disclosures about their financial operations. That was challenged in a petition, National Organization for Marriage v. McKee (11-599), after the state law was upheld by the First Circuit Court. The NOM is an organizations set up to promote the traditional view of marriage as being reserved solely for opposite-sex couples. It argued in challenging the PAC requirement that states do not have the constitutional authority to impose such obligations unless an organization has election campaign activity as its “major purpose.”

I bet Brian Brown has his head in a vice to help prevent it from exploding!

Good Morning Everyone!!

Good morning everyone!!   I hope that you morning if off to a brilliant start!!  I am sitting here with a huge cup of coffee trying to find some small semblance of motivation in it and thus it has disappointed.  We received news from the Dr yesterday and unfortunately the news was not good.  They are doing a CT Scan of my dad's abdomen on Wednesday to determine the extent and if the cancer has spread.  They will then give him the options for treatments etc.  I didn't sleep very well last night and know that we can just take all of this one day and step at a time.  There is no need to start worrying about the what if's or might be's.  He is going to be ok.

I really appreciate all of you guys for stopping by and checking out the blog.  I hope that there is more to post on today but with all the GOP wranglings that pretty much dominates the news and how much can honestly be said about those douchnozzles.   I just prefer not to post about all of it unless it is something REALLY crazy.

Anywho, thanks again for being here.  You guys mean the world to me and I greatly appreciate all the positive energy and kind words that have been sent.  Have a marvelous day!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

Good morning everyone!   I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for another start to what hopefully will be a great week!  Well the hubby and I spent most of the weekend watching and catching up on Downton Abby.  We got through all of season 1 and are about half way through season 2.  We got so involved in it, that I completely forgot about the Oscars.  I know, I know, my gay card is in the mail back to headquarters with a letter arguing that although I was not watching the Oscars I have put in approximately 15 hours of a Maggie Smith marathon, so that has to count for something, right? I love how she can say a thousand words with out even opening her mouth as her character.  My hubby always says that my facial expressions speak volumes at times and I suppose he is probably correct.

Anywhore, I hope that you have a great day.  Thanks again for stopping by!  Be sure to comment and rate when you have a chance.

A Marine Homecoming!!

This pic of a United States Marine, Brandon Morgan being welcomed home by his partner was posted to the Gay Marines Facebook page yesterday.  It of course is making the rounds on the blogosphere such as JMG and Towleroad.  The picture has received over 1,000 Facebook comments and shared hundreds of times.

Morgan made this statement on his own Facebook page:

To everyone who has responded in a positive way. My partner and I want to say thank you. Dalan, the giant in the photo, can't believe how many shares and likes we have gotten on this. We didn't do this to get famous,or something like that we did this cause after 3 deployments and four years knowing each other, we finally told each other how we felt. As for the haters, let em hate...to quote Kat Williams, everyone needs haters, so let them hate. We are the happiest we have ever been and as for the whole PDA and kissing slash hugging in uniform...it was a homecoming, if the Sergeants Major, Captains, Majors, and Colonels around us didn't care...then why do you care what these random people have to say? In summation thank you for your love and support. I received a lot of friend requests off this. I don't just accept requests so if your request was because of this post message me and let me know. Goodnight all, and Semper Fi." --Brandon Morgan

I absolutely love it!   I always see posts on my Facebook page of people saying that we need to support our troops....well I just posted this one and lets see how many support it!!!
